Complete refurbishment of a two bed C18th Cornish cottage and addition of a 72m2 larch clad extension, building of a large dorma to reveal a sea view. Complete re-wire and new central heating system.
Particular interest here was the shoring of the old cottage gable, which typical of cottages this age in Cornwall, has no foundations. Also typical of this age of property was the huge 4.5m2 chimney stack which provides a fantastic feature but was unfortunately space-inefficient. For this reason we removed the stack on the first floor (replacing it with a bathroom in the new extension) and retained the heavily featured inglenook to the ground floor.
Completed with a solid wood kitchen featuring a huge slab of timber from the centre of a Chestnut tree felled at National Trusts Trelissick Gardens, ‘pallet wood’ kitchen floor and reclaimed timber staircase.
